In Ecology it is well known the importance of birds as seed dispersers. Although some researches have been clarifying this matter, little has been known about the area of seed distribution for specific plants until now. New GPS technology has opened a new and precise way to address all this questions.
Some researchers found appropriate measurements of the distance that Keel-billed and Black-mandibled Toucans dispersed the seeds of the Panamanian nutmeg tree. Also,an important matching between the time of the day where the fruit rips and bird activity peaks, therefore maximizing the seed dispersal distance.
